Charlie Thomas is Director of the House Sales, Private Collections Department. Charlie started at Bonhams in 2002, working in the Furniture & Works of Art Department, before becoming Head of Department in 2006.
In 2014, Charlie joined the House Sales, Private Collections Department and has overseen a succession of high-profile single-owner sales at Bonhams, many achieving 100 per cent sell-through rates, including auctions of The Savoy Hotel which was sold onsite, The Contents of Lord Glenconner's St Lucian Property, The Contents of Trelissick House, which was sold onsite at the property in Cornwall, The Contents of Count and Countess Martignone's Milanese & Genoese Properties, Hooton Pagnell Hall in Yorkshire, The Lord Harlech Collection, The Jackie Collins Collection sold in Bonhams' Los Angles saleroom, and The Walid Juffali Collection sold onsite at the property in Bishopsgate. Charlie also played a key role with the cataloging and selling of the highly successful Owston Collection, sold in Sydney Australia.
A specialist in 18th and 19th century English and Continental furniture and works of art, Charlie has a special interest 18th century vernacular furniture. As a senior auctioneer, Charlie has taken auctions across four continents.
