Bonhams Hong Kong Modern and Contemporary Art Sale to be Held on 10 July
Featuring an expanded offering of urban art, limited edition collectible and mid-century design

Bonhams Modern & Contemporary Art sale in Hong Kong on Friday 10 July features more than 45 lots of post-war and contemporary art, urban art, design furniture, and editioned collectibles by some of the trending artists in the current market, such as Kaws, Banksy, Richard Lin, Takashi Murakami, and Javier Calleja.

Headlining the sale is a group of seven street art works from the Schoeni Collection of urban art. The Schoeni Collection was built by Nichole Schoeni, a young Hong Kong-based gallerist who – during her university education in the UK – was introduced to this unique artistic expression by a good friend in East London. Impressed by the ephemeral, defiant and accessible nature of street art, Nichole has since been committed to discovering and supporting urban artists via her gallery – Schoeni Gallery. Highlights on offer include: Adam Neate's Self Portrait (estimate: HK$18,000–28,000; illustrated left below); Cyclops' Ugod (estimate: HK$20,000–40,000; right below); and Banksy's Police Kids-Jack and Jill (estimate: HK$120,000–220,000; middle below), which hails directly from the first ever exhibition of Banksy in Hong Kong, organised by Schoeni Gallery.

Highlights from the post-war section include three rare works from the 1950s: Richard Lin's archetypal July 58 (estimate: HK$1,000,000 – 1,500,000; middle below), the artist's mystically-coloured early work showing signs of the maturity of his later work; Masaaki Yamada's Still Life no.92 (estimate: HK$30,000–50,000; left below), a rare still-life painting by the artist to be found in the international market.; and Figur-figur Wanita ('women figures'; estimate: HK$40,000–60,000; right below) by Indonesian artist Srihadi Soedarsono.

Wang Zineng, Bonhams Head of Modern and Contemporary Art, Asia, commented: "Now more than ever, art and design that brightens up our homes is enjoying a surge of interest, as well as urban art that reminds us of the intense dynamism of the metropolis we've all missed. Our sale this season is a response to these developments."
